My Story

The story so far:

Growing up, I was a creative writer. I loved storytelling and thinking about how people think.

(Some things never change.)

In college, I studied psychology, then computer science.I loved the person-centered approach of counseling and the creative and technical outlet of coding.

Eventually, I found UX--the perfect fit for the puzzle.

I applied to the HCI Master's program at UMD and began to learn the ins and outs of UI/UX.

I had my first UX internship at Scholastic in NYC and learned even more about how researchers and designers function in the UX industry.

I completed a Capstone project designing technology for Community Health Workers and graduated--during a pandemic.

I got a job at IBM as a UX designer and continue to learn about designing for users in our world that relies more and more on technology to forge and maintain social connections every day.

And the story is still unfolding.

Why UX?

I love UX because it's the best of psychology, storytelling, computer science, and research.

I like the culture of adventure and exploration.

I love the nerdy people who get excited over 99% invisible details, and work every day to find small ways to make fantasy and science fiction reality.

I love using technology to tell stories and make art, and I love that UX is trying to make the digital landscape more beautiful and accessible for everyone.
